The following video is one of the most unique and creative LOTR themed fan films we have ever seen – so we are super glad to share it with you! The film, shot in black and white silent film style, tells the story of a little orc who happens upon two lost hobbits in Middle Earth. Will they be lead into Saruman’s hands or will the little orc help them find their friends? Check out the video on YouTube or view it below. [YouTube]

LOTR Music VideosForum member Finduilas101 just posted a link to some great LOTR themed music videos from TheAragonath.cc. I’m not 100% sure if TORn has reported on these videos in the past, but they are unique and entertaining enough to have a second mention. If you have some time today (in between the Olympics) check out the 30+ videos of LOTR film scenes set to popular music. Gotta say, my personal favorite is the Sauron composition to Black Sabbath’s ‘Iron Man,’ though the Eomer mix to ‘Seven Nation Army’ is pretty solid too. Then again, there is the Modest Mouse ‘Float On’ mix to Merry and Pippin…and then…oh you’ll see… there are a lot of good ones. Going through them all might take a little bit of time, but hey, what else were you going to do today? πŸ™‚ [LOTR Music Videos]

By Moon AloneThe very talented Hai writes: First off, I’d like to tell you guys how much I appreciate your work on
TheOneRing.net. I’m a long time fan of LOTR and I must say your site has been an invaluable resource for all Tolkien stuff. I hope you guys keep up the great work for many many centuries!

For the longest time ever after I’ve read the book The Hobbit, I’ve wanted always to turn it into a webcomic. But seeing as it’s owned by the Tolkien estate and I’d rather not get into trouble with it, I’ve decided to just come up with my own fantasy story instead. And six months later, my fantasy webcomic By Moon Alone is finally up and running. So I’d like to invite you guys to have a look at it. There’s only 40 pages so far but I hope the quality will speak for itself. www.bymoonalone.com

The Hunt for GollumIf you haven’t heard of it yet, you will want to check out the non-profit collaborative short film being produced by writer/director Chris Bouchard – The Hunt for Gollum. Like the name suggests, this short film is a prequel to The Lord Of The Rings, set in Middle Earth and depicts events leading up to the Fellowship of the Ring. The story follows the Heir of Isildur as he sets out to find the creature Gollum. Mr. Bouchard has just released the second trailer for the film which you can checkout at their official website or at YouTube. The film will be released as a FREE download in December 2008. Aragorn by Ainu Laire

Aragorn by Ainu Laire

Ringer board member and artist, Ainu Laire, was kind enough to point out that today is Aragorn’s official birthday:

Aragorn is one of the few Tolkien characters to be actually granted a date of birth and not just a year. He was born on March 1st, 2931 of the Third Age to Arathorn and Gilraen. At two years old, his father was slain by an orc-arrow that pierced his eye and he died at the age of sixty. Gilraen took her child to Rivendell, and Elrond took the place of his father and loved him as if he were his own. In this house his lineage was kept secret from him, and he was called Estel, which means ‘hope’ in the Elven tongue.

Ainu Laire has posted a complete history on our boards, as well as some links to their wonderful artwork (featured in this post). Please check out the full post! [Read More]
