ImladrisRose – The connection is brewing!!
Elessar – Bilbo looks sad and almost like he’s already addicted to the Ring.
Gramma – Again, Bilbo looks spent and fearful of what he suspects of the Ring.
Mithril – Bilbo’s panic and relief at finding the Ring in the forest is palpable. Really great foreshadowing, and acting.
Rud the Spud – Bilbo puts his hands over his mouth in what appears to be relief? Is he just glad because he thought he’d lost the Ring?
Sarumann – The Ring is beginning to take a hold of Bilbo. I’m glad to see them starting to build that.

ImladrisRose – This scene is perfection. Brilliance.
Garfeimao – The Ring sequence is nicely juxtaposed with Bilbo almost volunteering to Gandalf about what he found in the Goblin tunnels, and then his keeping it a secret, which is the start of his lying to Gandalf, something I’m sure has not escaped Gandalf’s notice.
Gramma – That expression on Gandalf’s face is trying so hard to read Bilbo.
greendragon – A wonderful moment, similar to the ‘true courage is about knowing not when to take a life’ bit in AUJ. Such moments – great script, brilliant actors – really are the gems of these films to me, even with all the amazing scenery and effects. And they remind us that PJ really is an actor’s director, as well as being a visual wizard.
Kelvarhin – Bilbo telling his lie to Gandalf. It works well.
Mithril – Pitch perfect scene between Gandalf and Bilbo. Gandalf does not give that suspicious look that he usually does, like he did after Bilbo first finds the ring and reappears from the Goblin caves.

ImladrisRose – I love how does this just like Ian Holm.

ImladrisRose – Great cover up, Bilbo.
MrCere – I really appreciate Bilbo’s reluctance to mention the Ring to Gandalf. The filmmakers appreciate the importance of this detail; and that is one bad hair day for Bilbo.
Sarumann – Oh, Bilbo. Hiding stuff from Gandalf never ends well.

ImladrisRose – Such brilliant dialogue and interaction, as usual.
Elessar – Loved this little moment. Gandalf once again giving Bilbo good advice, and the beginning to Gandalf really being curious as to what Bilbo has.
Gramma – That says a lot for Bilbo’s strength, to be able to divert the Wizard’s suspicion like that when a moment before Gandalf had a feeling something was going on.

ImladrisRose – Terrifying.
Garfeimao – This is when Bilbo falls, and when I bet the Ring gets a chance to flee and find someone more evil to help it out. My sister is going to be hiding her eyes during the whole spider fight, that much is for certain.
MrCere – Don’t mean to complain but book Bilbo’s survival against the spiders was due to his invisibility, his stealth and his wit. None of those are in evidence here.

ImladrisRose – Shelobesque
Elessar – I hate spiders.
Gramma – Wow! This reminds me of Sam fighting Shelob! There are the Goosebumps again!
Kelvarhin – That spider attack is going to scare the heck out of people in the theatre.
Mithril – That’s one huge spider.
