ImladrisRose – Great shot.
Sarumann – Aw, Thorin! Why you gotta be so distrustful after that big hug scene in the last movie?

ImladrisRose – Why can’t you just love Bilbo like we do, Thorin?

ImladrisRose – It’s okay Bilbo, he doesn’t mean it.
Gramma – Every moment of Bilbo is packed. Look at that guy!

ImladrisRose – I love you Balin. Thank you for standing up for what is right!
Demosthenes – Balin’s line, I think, is actually unrelated to the preceding sequence. But he at least has affection and respect for Bilbo and doesn’t just see him as an employee. A distinction that presumably is beyond Thorin at this point.
Elessar – Balin reminding Thorin Bilbo isn’t just something you toss away. I think we’re going to see Balin loose respect and faith in Thorin.
Garfeimao – Go Balin.
Gramma – Balin, you are one classy dude! *gramma bows*
greendragon – love Balin. Great character, and Ken Stott is fabulous.
Kelvarhin – I love this nod to the friendship between Balin and Bilbo.
Sarumann – “His name….is Bilbo.” You tell ’em, Balin! Still my favorite of all the Dwarves.

ImladrisRose – Hearing the voice of Smaug gave me chills!!
Garfeimao – I think I know how Bilbo is able to get away with walking and sliding around on the gold coins and not being found by Smaug. As long as Bilbo only moves when Smaug moves through the coins, there is no way for the dragon to pinpoint the noise. Otherwise, he’d be toast.
Kelvarhin – Smaug’s voice! Benedict Cumberbatch nails it! *gulps*
Mithril – Awesome scenes between Bilbo and Smaug. I also like how Bilbo is afraid. Who wouldn’t be? The book is pretty light in these scenes, Bilbo rather glib and over proud of himself. But in reality, I don’t think anyone could act that way when facing a giant dragon. Smaug’s voice is awesome. I hope they make it resound a bit more, like the gold does.
Sarumann – Smaug speaking. Is it weird that I’m kind of turned on right now?

ImladrisRose – Such a tease.
Kelvarhin – when Smaug is either surfing down the pile of gold or swimming through it, you can see Bilbo running along the top of it at the back.

MrCere – There may be some merit to a theory I have supported that Smaug may not speak clearly to Bilbo. Or course trailer sound doesn’t need to match picture so it might be just a way of telling some plot hint with compelling images of the dragon without giving details away. Perfect near-display of Smaug without giving anything away. Impressive.
deej – There had been some discussion as to whether Smaug’s mouth would move when he spoke, or if we (the audience), as well as Bilbo, would just hear him. The trailer appears to support the latter.
Rud the Spud – Love the voice of Smaug. It’s deep, sleek and seductive, the way a dragon should sound. Is this Smaug blasting fire as Bilbo makes a break for an exit? I hope Smaug looks somewhat overweight. It was a detail I always liked, how he had grown fat and sluggish over the years, symbolising his unyielding greed.

Kelvarhin – Is that Smaug’s claw digging through the gold?

ImladrisRose – He doesn’t want to become second breakfast…
Garfeimao – This is where Bilbo says “Oh dear, I’m toast!”
Kelvarhin – I think that’s the expression most people in the cinema will have at this time.
