The Hobbit movie logo on Warner Brothers’ facebook page (reproduced above) has been updated with the information that advanced ticket sales for The Hobbit: and Unexpected Journey will begin on Wednesday, November 7 at Noon Eastern Standard Time. As if the new trailer last week wasn’t exciting enough, this is starting to make it feel like this is all really happening and the day (or night) when the lights go down and we all hear Howard Shore’s music start is finally almost upon us! Anyone besides me just clear their calendars for the 7th at noon EST?

In this delightful, clip, from ITN.co.uk, Andy Serkis reads a short excerpt from “The Hobbit” in his iconic Gollum voice and also discusses the challenges of getting back into the character of Gollum for the upcoming Hobbit movies. Take a look!

From Hollywood Reporter. com: Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is to be the 65th Royal Film Performance on Dec. 12 in the British capital. The movie will screen to the Queen or members of the Royal Family in aid of the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund, the charity set up to look after U.K. industry employees and their families who are suffering from hardship.

CTBF president Anne Bennett said: “We are thrilled to be able to host the U.K. premiere of this highly-anticipated first installment of “The Hobbit” trilogy. We are thankful to Peter Jackson and Warner Bros., New Line and MGM for providing this opportunity, and are grateful for the unswerving support the Royal Family gives to our charity and the Royal Film Performance.” Read more…

As revealed by PJ on his facebook page today – the new ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ poster.   What a Hobbit Day gift!  That’s one determined looking hobbit!  Go and enjoy!

And in other news – our good friends over at Tolkiendrim.com have shared a report that ‘An Unexpected Journey’ will be 123 minutes long.  This is according to Parisien cinema ‘Le Grand Rex’ and, as the folks at Tolkiendrim.com point out, it could be pure speculation.  After all, the first Hobbit movie is, at this time, still in post production, so it’s unlikely that the final duration is known.  Still,  it’s interesting to speculate.  Two hours and three minutes?  To paraphrase a line from another well known movie, ‘Aren’t you a little short for a Peter Jackson movie?’

As part of the World Wide Celebration of Hobbit week we here at TORn along with our friends at Weta are pleased to announce a contest for their newest art print. As we told you earlier this week, Sunrise Upon Edoras is the third print in the series with a beautiful depiction of the first time Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli see Edoras as they come upon it in The Two Towers. Well, now you get a chance to win yourself a copy of this beautiful moment. Starting today through next Saturday September, 29th we will be taking entries sent to Elessar@theonering.net with the subject line Edoras Contest.  In the body of your email, just tell us your name, shipping information and a contact number.  Winner will be chosen at random – good luck!
