Peter Jackson to produce 'District 9' Washington, Nov 2 (ANI): Peter Jackson is gearing up to produce live-action sci-fi drama ‘District 9’. The movie will be helmed by Neill Blomkamp, and will mark his feature directing debut. Blomkamp also penned the script for the movie along with Terri Tatchell, reports Variety. Jackson will produce through his WingNut Films production banner. QED Intl. will be financing the pic through its credit facility with Comerica Bank and Aramid Entertainment Fund, and will handle worldwide sales. Jackson’s WETA Workshop facility will be providing the visual effects.

CEO Bill Block said that some of the plot particulars will be unveiled for distributors today at AFM.

“We jumped at the opportunity to greenlight this movie with our facility, and we hope to engage selected distributors to be our partners on this,” Variety quoted Block, as saying.

Ken Kamins of Key Creatives will exec produce with Block.

Jackson, on his part, said: “For the last year, my team and I have had the pleasure of working very closely with Neill. He has a passion and a command of the language of cinema that will result in ‘District 9’ fascinating people all over the world.”

Jackson is currently in Pennsylvania, where he has begun production on an adaptation of “The Lovely Bones”. (ANI)
