It’s a love story set in Middle-earth. When New Line’s “The Lord of the Rings” films went into production, fans searched for news of the movies and dissected themes of the beloved J.R.R. Tolkien books on the Internet — largely through the Web site TheOneRing.net. The site and its users caught “Rings” director Peter Jackson’s eye. Jackson and his crew not only read the site every day, but also started sending contributions to it. The garden was built to be an homage to JRR Tolkien and his beloved character, Sam Gamgee. We wanted to make a special stone as a tribute to Sam for the garden path, and Mr. Lee was gracious enough to brave the difficult media of rough concrete and a very messy bottle of paint to produce a lovely sketch of Sam on this stone. It bears an imprint of nasturtium leaves and a flower, and will eventually say, “Well, I’m back!” This will surely be the crown jewel of the Elanor garden and I’m thrilled that Mr. Lee was willing to do this–particularly after a long evening of presentations, questions, and booksignings.
Liv Tyler, who has remained elusive since giving birth to her son Milo in December, finally stepped off the mommy track for a glamorous bash launching the new Fendi store on Fifth Avenue.
