Franz Ferdinand are among a host of celebrities donating items to a Scots fundraising auction. The Glasgow group have given a signed guitar to the event, to be held at the city’s Oran Mor venue on Saturday. Scots actors Billy Boyd and Rory McCann have also supported the auction, to help victims of the tsunami. Other donations have come from pop star Kylie Minogue and Bond actor Pierce Brosnan. [More]

Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King,” the culminating 2003 installment in his magisterial trilogy, amassed $377 million domestically — $86.6 million of that accrued to New Line’s 2004 accounts.
