Lord of the Rings is the nation’s favourite book, according to a poll of Australian readers. JRR Tolkien’s epic tale of Middle Earth and its inhabitants was voted number one after the ABC launched the hunt for Australia’s favourite book three months ago. The book, made into a blockbuster film series by Peter Jackson, tells the story of how a small band of Hobbits defeat the forces of evil. [More]

World-renowned artist Alan Lee, acclaimed LOTR illustrator and Academy Award-winning conceptual designer for the film trilogy, will discuss his long involvement in creating the visual world that accompanies the books and films based on the works of J.R.R.
