The Essential Magic team had the opportunity last week to play the new Lord of the Rings trading card game (which releases November 6th). The game is made by Decipher (makers of the Star Trek and Star Wars line of CCGs) and is based on the upcoming Lord of the Rings movie (in theaters December 19) which is of course based upon the books by J.R.R. I just got my Amazon.com daily mailshot and noticed the following paragraph. Here’s a new way to gauge a DVD: how many hours can one spend watching just the extras? Several recent DVDs claim two to four hours of bonus material, but here comes Shrek boasting 11 hours of entertaining extras. Its reign will be short-lived in the world of hype, however; a still unnamed 2002 DVD release is boasting 12 hours of extras! We’ll keep you in the loop on that one.

Have you or anyone else seen the commercials on History channel(Canada)? One is for the Casa Loma exhibit, the other for the “Trivia Quest” that seems to involve Chapters, Burger King and a bunch of other companies. Both commericals use bits of existing trailers.
