Yes, tomorrow is Frodo’s and Bilbo’s birthday, and as “Hobbits give presents to other people on their own birthdays,” we thought we would do the same. We have a limited number of special Lord of the Rings pins — 2 x 3 inch replicas of the first movie poster, featuring Frodo and the Ring — that were originally created for theaters and other promotional partners. So, between now and next Wednesday, September 26th (or while supplies last, so hurry!) we’re going to include one of these special pins with every Lord of the Rings order of $30 or more in the official shop at http://www.LOTRShop.com/m.html .
We’re also pleased to announce the addition of two very special new products: a DVD player and VCR from JVC, each with a Lord of the Rings theme. These high-quality units are packed in a special Lord of the Rings box, and come with three bonuses: an exclusive 17-minute behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming Lord of the Rings films, an AOL disc with Lord of the Rings screensavers and a special money-saving offer for joining AOL, and a special Lord of the Rings sticker. So whether you’ve been waiting to pick up your first DVD player, or need to replace your old VCR, here’s your chance to own a great machine and have a first look at the magic that Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson is bringing to the big screen.
We’re also putting two of our exclusive items on sale through next Wednesday — the 48 x 72 inch bus shelter size poster (of Frodo and the Ring), and the limited-edition International sales brochure, which is truly an extraordinary collectible. You’ll save $10 on each item if you purchase them by Wednesday.
We’ve added some other great new items to the shop in the past few weeks, including the first 2002 Lord of the Rings wall calendar which features images of Frodo, the Ringwraiths, Gandalf, Bilbo, Gimli, Aragorn, the Orcs, and more; the new Pillars of Argonath poster (which we’ve also paired with the Frodo poster in a special money-saving set); new hardcover and softcover versions of The Lord of the Rings; and the much-loved Alan Lee illustrated hardcover of this epic masterpiece. And, since it’s Frodo’s birthday, don’t forget about the Frodo Lives shirts and hats!
We’ll have lots more exciting news to share with you as great new collectibles arrive, and will keep you informed with a newsletter every two weeks or so. We hope you’ll stop by the shop soon.
Sending you our best wishes,
Nevin, and the entire LOTRShop Team
Just as they did in the weeks prior to his eleventy-first birthday, “the history and character of Mr. Bilbo Baggins” have again become a topic of conversation among those who pay attention to the world of Hobbits. [More]
Thanks to Mike for the tip!

Today on Regis, the Trivia Question of the day(referring to yesterday’s show) was, “Who wrote the LOTR?”. As a sad commentary of the poor education system of the US, the lady got the questions wrong. She lost a 5 day, 4 night all expenses paid trip to Florida. However, my suggestion was that she be locked in a cell with a hungry Balrog! (be nice now -Xo)
