Steve writes: I found this when logging in to my Compuserve account today: When the Harris Poll asked 2,279 U.S. adults to name their favorite movie of all time, the resounding No. 1 response was the epic Civil War film, “Gone With the Wind.” Coming in right behind it were “Star Wars” and “Casablanca.” “Lord of the Rings” comes in fourth.
The top 10 favorite movies of all time:
1. “Gone With the Wind”
2. “Star Wars”
3. “Casablanca”
4. “The Lord of the Rings”
5. “The Sound of Music”
6. “Wizard of Oz”
7. “The Notebook”
8. “Forrest Gump”
9. “The Princess Bride” and “The Godfather” (tie)
Men and women ages 18 to 31 and those ages 32 to 43 have the same
favorite movie: “Star Wars.” However, they differ on their second favorite
movie. The young adults prefer “The Notebook,” while the middle-age crowd cites
“Lord of the Rings.”
