It’s difficult to believe that it’s been 50 years since Christopher Lee thrilled horror fans with his portrayals of the Frankenstein monster, Dracula and the Mummy in a memorable series of Hammer Films. “Yes, it has been a long time,” Lee said. “To think, I didn’t say a word in “The (Curse of) Frankenstein” film. Thanks to Ringer Mike for alerting us to some very creative ‘building’ that took place over the Holidays. The family that runs the Miss(ed) Manners Blog have re-created the entirety of The Battle of Pelennor Fields using candy. It really defies explanation, so check it out for yourself! They also created a Helm’s Deep with Candy Last year. [Pelennor Fields] [Helm’s Deep]
History Channel’s Monster Quest is going to be investigating ‘real’ Hobbits in an episode premiering on January 16th 10PM ET. I’m not sure Bilbo et al would take too kindly to being called apes, but here is the official episode description: “A MonsterQuest expedition will deploy researchers and the latest technology into the jungle, searching for evidence of a creature natives describe as half man, half ape.” Check your local listings for airings in your area. I happened to be flipping through channels over the holiday and ran across a marathon of The Science Channel’s ‘How It’s Made.’ You are probably saying, yea, so what?! Well, this particular episode was on how pinball machines are made and the pinball machine they were making was a The Lord of the Rings one! After further investigation, it looks like you can watch this episode online at the Science Channel website. If you don’t feel like watching it online, it looks like this episode is airing again on Jan 19th. [How It’s Made]
