Dyanna writes: Ian McKellen can be heard in the UK on Radio 4 at 9.00pm on Friday 25 the February in the play ‘Terre Haute’. From the radio Times comes this snippet: Just before he was executed for the Oklahoma bombing, Timothy McVeigh was in correspondence with writer and iconoclast Gore Vidal. In this play, novelist Edmund White imagines what would have happened had they ever met face to face in Terre Haute prison.

He has composed music for more than 50 films, including “Aviator,” “Silence of the Lambs,” “Seven” and “Philadelphia.” But perhaps American composer Howard Shore’s most recognized achievement is creating the music for Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” trilogy. For these films he has won three Academy Awards, two Golden Globes and five Grammy Awards. In 2003, Shore compressed the music from the trilogy into a two-hour symphony titled “The Lord of the Rings Symphony.” The six-movement work premiered in November 2003 in Wellington, New Zealand, and has since been performed more than 40 times.
