E! news is now reporting that FOTR will premiere in the US on Dec 21st. Haven’t heard any other news about this, and would like to believe it’s a simple mistake on E’s part, but I have a hinky feeling they’re right, and the premiere has been pushed back 2 days.

(hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm -Xo)

Unfortunately it finally became official, the release date for Brasil is now January the 1st. Check www.warnerbros.com.br for confirmation. A friend of mine contacted Warner, and as it seems, this is the release date for ALL of latin america.

RINGS PREMIERE PLANNED

A massive street party will be held for the Australasian (For those non-Kiwi and Aussie ringers, ‘Australasian’ means the area of the world that includes Australia and New Zealand.) premiere of the first Lord of the Rings film in Wellington on December 19. In invitations sent out to media, Rings’ film distributor Roadshow has revealed what is planned for the star-studded event at the Embassy Theatre. Actors such as Liv Tyler, Elijah Wood, Viggo Mortensen and Hugo Weaving are expected to attend, as well as Kiwi director Peter Jackson and producer Barrie Osborne.

Ringer Spy Anthony takes a deep look into Shore’s work, I found the results interesting.

I’ve noticed something about movies that Howard Shore does the music for. They are critically acclaimed. I got a list of many of the movies he composed music for in the last decade, from IMDB and looked them up on Roger Ebert’s site and RottenTomatoes.com.

Many of the reviews from Ebert are 4 stars…and very few are below 3 ½ or 3.

On RottenTomatoes.com, a percentage of positive reviews from a large group of critics, many movies scored above 60%…giving it a “fresh” rating rather than “rotten.”

I don’t know if this correlates that good music subconsciously alters critics opinions, or if Howard Shore only takes good scripts, or if it’s just a coincidence, but it does add to the stack of evidence hinting that Lord of the Rings will be a critically acclaimed box office smash (a rare phenomenon).
