Justin Sewell reports:

Quote
Footage of the highly anticipation LOTR anime film debuts at Annecy, for a second year in a row. Special guests include Andy Serkis, Philippa Boyens, Kenji Kamiyama, Joseph Chou and Jason DeMarco.

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim preview will take place 12 June 2024 at 4pm local time. Link to the event page. But first: a new logo treatment for the movie!

Executive Producer from WB Feature Animation, Jason DeMarco, says it’s more than a trailer – a “nice big chunk of the movie.”

Here is the new logo for the film:

Looking forward to this [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm excited to see more news for this movie as I think it's been relatively quiet. I hope that they will have a 'in memorial of Bernard Hill' since even though he wasn't going to be in this movie, but since this is about the Rohirrim, it would be fitting.

"Keen, heart-piercing was her song as the song of the lark that rises from the gates of night and pours its voice among the dying stars, seeing the sun behind the walls of the world; and the song of Lúthien released the bonds of winter, and the frozen waters spoke, and flowers sprang from the cold earth where her feet had passed."

I second that, OldestDaughter ! [In reply to] Can't Post

It would be quite fitting, indeed. As for this project, as much as I am willing to give it a chance, I think it's a wasted opportunity, this should have been live action. I don't have much experience with animes, I know it's a beloved art form, but I think this medium is not right for Tolkien ( I never watched the Ralph Bakshi's animations). After the visual spectacle of PJ's trilogies, this seems to me like a step back, but I may be wrong. Anyway, I'm still going to give it a chance, and the fact that Miranda Otto's Eowyn is back as narrator and Brian Cox is voicing Helm Hammerhand is quite exciting!

It's definitely a different way of storytelling [In reply to] Can't Post

but I am looking forward to it. I think bringing back Miranda Otto is amazing and Brian Cox is also an excellent actor.

I think back when Wakanda Forever was released, they did a great job of having 'in memory of' Chadwick Boseman, so I think they could definitely do something like that in honor of Bernard Hill, since he was such an amazing actor and he was our King Theoden.

That would be perfect [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm not normally the fatalistic type, but so much of The Lord of the Rings' production feels like it was just meant to be, and this is another of those serendipitous occasions.
