Horsegirl writes: New Zealand rider Mark Todd and his new mount, the 10 year old grey Gandalf, have qualified to represent New Zealand in this summer’s Olympics in Hong Kong. Placing 6th at an international horse trial in France earned the pair the points required to ride on the NZ team. For Todd, coming out of retirement, the road truly does go ever on….

UPDATE: It turns out that “Frodo Baggins” is a 13 year old black New Zealand bred Thoroughbred who actually starred as one of the Black Rider’s mounts in FOTR!! He even walked down the red carpet at the premiere of the film with Elijah Woods himself.
