Runner from New York writes: I want to remind everyone in the New York area about the upcoming Collegiate Chorale concert at Carnegie Hall on Sunday, November 13 at 3:00 p.m. The theme of this exciting concert is “The Rings: Myth and Music.” Featured in the first half are excerpts from Richard Wagner’s Flying Dutchman, Die Walküre and Götterdämmerung. The second half of the concert will be the New York premiere of Movements I and II, The Fellowship of the Ring, from Howard Shore’s Lord of the Rings Symphony, based on the music from his Academy Award-winning film scores. Lord of the Rings Oscar-winning costume designer Ngila Dickson and King Kong production designer Grant Major have joined forces for the New Zealand International Arts Festival. The duo’s The Holy Sinner, a play directed by fellow Kiwis Mike Mizrahi and Marie Adams, will be one of more than 100 events on offer. Artistic director Carla van Zon said she was excited by the calibre of acts secured for next year’s $12.5 million lineup, which is her last.
