Interesting tidbit of information from a Loyal London fan: This morning The Lord of the Rings trilogy became the most nominated film series in Academy Award history with 30 nominations, surpassing both the Godfather trilogy (28) and the Star Wars franchise (21). Pretty cool!

UPDATE! Well, looks like the Academy messed something up. Barlimans Regular Dalgoth pointed out that the printable Oscar-ballot [Here] shows a nomination for The Return of the King for Sound Editing, instead of one for Finding Nemo. So could that be the 12th nomination? We’ll keep you updated!
And so we will. Unfortunately most evidence seems to point towards an error on the printable ballot. The PDF-file of the ballot does have Finding Nemo listed as does the pressrelease from the Academy. It seems they have updated their normal ballot as well. No real harm done, although it is a bit sloppy. Sorry to get all of your hopes up, but on the bright side: we already got the Oscar for Sound Editing last year… – leo
