It is a time of growing darkness and despair. Sauron the Great, the Dark Lord of Mordor, has returned to his ancient fastness of Barad-dur. From there, his evil and corruption has spread across the lands once more. Alas, in the West, there is little strength left. The Elves have all but abandoned Middle-earth, and the blood of Numenor has run thin; that which remains now dwells in Minas Tirith, or with the lonely rangers that haunt the ruins and wild country of Arnor.Yet, there is still hope. Gandalf the Grey has learned that the One Ring, the master-ring which Sauron desires and fears above all, is with the hobbit Frodo in the Shire. And there are heroes! Heroes to aid Gandalf in his hunt for the creature Gollum, and in his quest for the lost knowledge of Isildur’s Bane. Heroes, whose strong arms guard the Shire from the enemy. Heroes, who venture into the forests of Ithilien, or even into the Land of Shadow itself, there to disrupt the schemes of Sauron, wherever they may be found.Middle-earth Quest is set in the seventeen-year period between Bilbo’s birthday party and the Ring’s departure from the Shire, as described in J.R.R. Tolkien’s novel The Lord of the Rings.™One player takes the role of Sauron, who is attempting to dominate Middle-earth with his nefarious plots and evil minions. Up to three other players take the roles of heroes who must hold the darkness at bay until Gandalf’s plans have matured. To do so, the heroes must embark on dangerous quests and consult with the famous characters of Middle-earth to gain favor and knowledge. Will you play as Sauron and claim Middle-earth as your own? Or will you play as a hero and stand against the Dark Lord? The fate of Middle-earth rests in your hands!Middle-earth

Beginning at Bag End, then moving to Rivendell, the group will progress from scenario to scenario across the Master Board. As they reach Moria, Helm’s Deep, Shelob’s Lair, and Mordor, they will complete the scenarios depicted on the individual Scenario Boards. The group receives Hobbit cards at the beginning of their quest, each depicting a different form of activity or strength – Friendship, Traveling, Hiding, and Fighting. As the perils of their quest appear, the group must work together to defeat them by discarding the appropriate cards or by accepting the corruption of the Ring to avoid danger. On their journey, the Hobbits will receive aid from other members of the Fellowship – such as Gandalf and Aragorn – as well as make use of the many gifts given to them along the way, such as the Phial of Galadriel or the ever-nourishing Lembas bread. These special cards will give them the stren
The Hobbit is a game of strategic bidding and chance. Taking on the roles of the stoic dwarves, players need to guide Bilbo Baggins from the Shire to the Lonely Mountain and end the game with the most treasure. During their journey they will fight goblins, battle wargs, escape the Mirkwood elves, and eventually reach Laketown. Players must plan their journey wisely, bidding for their turn sequence to move Bilbo Baggins further along the game path. In order to face the challenges that await them, players can increase their stats by using their numbered Dwarf Cards to bid for upgrades. Player stats include Cunning, Strength, and Initiative, and each of these can be raised whenever the active player moves Bilbo onto an appropriate space along the path. But be wary, there are also spaces on the path that will reduce your stats. Bid wisely!

Smaug™ the Golden is the first sculpture in John Howe’s and Weta’s range of sculptures from Middle-earth™. The sculpture is based on John’s original artwork created in 1990. It was first published on the cover of the paperback edition of The Hobbit by Grafton Books in 1991.
Having adorned the cover of The Hobbit, it is an instantly recognisable image to old and young Tolkien fans alike.
Smaug – the great dragon, at one with his cache and jealously guarding it against the world around him.
The Art of John Howe – Sculptures from Middle-earth™ is a series of sculptures from John’s iconic representations of Tolkien’s worlds, sculpted by Weta sculptors Daniel Cockersell, Brigitte Wuest and Eden Small under the creative guidance of John Howe and Richard Taylor.
This statue is cast in resin, a material that allows intricate detail, and painted as Faux Bronze.
The statue sits on a black marbled base also made from polystone. Some of the images show a wooden base, which is our original concept that we have since altered based on customer feedback. To see what the new base looks like, please see the examples depicting Éowyn and the Nazgûl in the second and third images above.
The polystone bases are cast using a process that creates a unique marbling effect for each piece.
