After a flurry of internet activity with the Hobbit dropping on the world, a trip to the cinema was in order to see that same trailer on the big screen. The problem was, it wasn’t there, at least with the some 3D versions of the latest Tintin movie. If you viewed Tintin and it did NOT have The Hobbit trailer attached please email Email MrCere@TheOneRing.net with the subject “No trailer”. If you saw Tintin with a trailer, congrats, but please don’t send mail. Reports are coming in that various 3D Tintin screenings do not feature the trailer and instead has glasses-needed viewings of The Phantom Menance, Titantic, Madagascar 3 and The Lorax. The widely reported attachment to Tintin (great flick by the way) seems to apply to the regular format of the film. We are seeking official word and will update you as we can but lots of screenings have the same 3D report.
Millions line up at Universal Studios in L.A. for a chance to pull back the curtain and see behind the illusions of Hollywood films and television. At the Hobbiton movie set in Matamata, tourists pour into the area for exactly the opposite reason: they want to step into the illusion of a film, walk around and stay there awhile.
Pure magic.
It may be the only location in history where fans can visit a dressed film set before the movie is released. The first of two films based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit is due to hit theaters almost exactly a year from now but at the smallish village found between Rotorua and Hamilton, the pastoral, fictional Middle-earth is definitely open for business. WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND — In what may be a first, I am sitting in the Weta Cave next to TORn co-founder Erica / Tehanu, and we can confirm absolutely that the rumor of a delay of the first Hobbit film until 2013 is complete, uh, shall we say, balderdash. It is interesting to imagine where the rumor came from but the source here is beyond question. While I hate to drive traffic to the start of the confusion, here it is just in case. In case it wasn’t clear, this is completely untrue.
UPDATE: Dan Fellman, President, Domestic Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures has also given a definitive statement on the matter as well:
“Contrary to inaccurate reports – The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is being released on December 14, 2012.
Just a really quick check in while I juggle the logistics of being a lone traveler: I know many readers have visited the Hobbiton movie set, but it is currently quite pristine after serving for The Hobbit and they may wish to go back. I was there yesterday and have a lot to write and say about and I will be allowed to publish some photos as well. Those who haven’t been, well, it is a prime experience. Wellington is rainy and chilly and full of friends of TheOneRing.net but I am here for a few days and should be able to buckle down and blog until my fingers bleed so stay tuned!
