A new UK survey of 2,000 people examining people’s concepts of romance and love in some of their favourite cult television series and films has revealed some interesting statistics when it comes to The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
Ross and Rachel from Friends took the gong for favourite couple in the Ladbrokes Bingo survey.
However, 8% backed Aragorn and Arwen’s romance as their fave on-screen couple. And Arwen’s line “I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone” was voted the third-best romantic film quote just trailing Titanic and Dirty Dancing.
By comparison, the romance of Tauriel and Kili in The Hobbit sequence — although fresher in mind — was the romantic choice of only 2% of those surveyed.
Another 8% said Aragorn and Eowyn were the couple that ‘should have been’.
