[Demosthenes] Okay. next scene. Bard’s line to Thorin
[Demosthenes] You have only brought ruin etc etc
[Demosthenes] what’s happening here? This is later obviously.
[jenniearcheo] Ah, smaugth3drag0n, but perhaps that means the scales. Not accounting for the fault in the armor.
[Demosthenes] go πŸ™‚
[smaugth3drag0n] What is Bard looking through? Is that Erebor inside?
[perry] thorin looks guilty when he heres this.
[jenniearcheo] Yes, post-smauggie
[perry] hears this
[AzogTheDefiler] I think this happens after the dwarves set up the barricade at the door and he can look through a small hole
[Demosthenes] yes, why does it seem like Thorin is in prison?
[Bofur] bard is looking thought the fixed erebor gate
[jenniearcheo] I think this is a gate of some sort
[paddy] when bard says that line it seems the dwarves can hear this as thorin seems to turn his head towards them away from bard
[ashwise] line was powerful. I loved the look on thorin’s face
[AmydaughterofBev] Well, maybe only from the windlance before, but now there is a missing scale…the soft spot. perhaps a shot from a standard bow would suffice?
[gothmog] thorin is on his own thinking i think
[Bofur] the dwarves took pieces of erebor and fixed the gate
[Argonath] I love how softly Bard says “death”
[elentari3018] yes i loved Thorin’s face too!
[jenniearcheo] Agreed, AmydaughterofBev
[elentari3018] Thorin is like the highlight of this movie
[butterfly] I think Thorin feels guilty, but is probably too far gone to stop πŸ™
[Demosthenes] it’s a lot of rock to have piled up. many feet.
[Barry_barrowwight] Agreed butterfly
[miriel] are they talking through the barricaded doors of erebor?
[ashwise] he look ed overwhelmed
[jenniearcheo] At least Thorin has the grace to look up and have a guilty expression for a moment
[smaugth3drag0n] The guilt seems to be building up in Thorin with the way PJ shot it askewed.
[jenniearcheo] I believe so, miriel
[elentari3018] that is one of my favorite frames of Thorin
[perry] and then he looks away – can;t face it, and looks to his company for their reaction.
[Demosthenes] Is Thorin having regrets?
[perry] elentari – me, too.
[elentari3018] i think he’s torn
[Demosthenes] That’s another question about this scene
[Demosthenes] Torn about?
[ashwise] I think so but briefly
[smaugth3drag0n] His plan is failing. Huge regrets.
[gothmog] yes and no demo
[elentari3018] he wants to keep the gold but he’s guilty about what Bard said
[perry] Ithink he is beginning to question. Because it is true, he brought destruciton od LT by entering the Mt.
[jenniearcheo] Torn between what he sees as his quest for his Destiny and the effect that’s having on innocents
[miriel] I guess thorin and regrets depend fully on at what point in the gold madness he is
[Bofur] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVAgTiBrrDA at 0:20 you see the fixed Erebor gate where bard was looking throught
[gothmog] thorin doesnt really give a well you know once he gets his mnt
[SmaugInverted] But it seems strange – after that theres a wide shot, and I can’t see the hole Bard was talking through
[elentari3018] and thinks maybe he should relent but more so, he wants it all and can’t wait till Dain gets there
[AzogTheDefiler] He has the mountain again but now that he has it he doesnΒ΄t want to share even after the promise. He is pretty much gone
[elentari3018] he wont’ think that the destruction is his fault though
[Demosthenes] Is Thorin’s look related to the next flash-shot of the Company?
[AmydaughterofBev] Has Dain been contacted atthat point do you think?
[gothmog] deffo
[ashwise] I thought his madness was really toned down
[perry] how can he not, in a lucid moment?
[Demosthenes] I think we can warp those together
[paddy] guys im heading off up early. demosthenes will there be a transcript of this conversation after? so i can read what ive missed? πŸ™‚
[PhillipF_Greece] am i allowed to use facts from the book??
[smaugth3drag0n] I think is almost gone at this point elentari3018. But the look of regret or shame on his face shows he hasn’t succumbed to the madness…yet
[jenniearcheo] The dwarves to seem to be looking down from their wall at something, and Thorin walking away down the steps
[Demosthenes] paddy: i’ll try. no guarantees tho.
[jenniearcheo] PhillipF_Greece: Sure if it’s relevant
[elentari3018] @smaugth3drag0n Yes i agree
[jenniearcheo] Thorin does have them build a wall in the book
[butterfly] i think it’s some kind of barricade
[Demosthenes] Yes he does. and we see in the next scene all the dwarves upon a parapet.
[jenniearcheo] Yes
* miriel nods
[Demosthenes] of sorts. a rear view from inside Erebor.
[jenniearcheo] Although it hardly looks hastily constructed
[SmaugInverted] In the wide shot, why is there a big hole between the columns?
[SmaugInverted] Remainder of Smaugs attack?
[Demosthenes] I think so Smaug
[jenniearcheo] I think that’s where Smaug came in yes
[ashwise] I’m thinking so
[Demosthenes] Or lefft πŸ™‚
[miriel] convienient hole for negotiations?
[smaugth3drag0n] That is where Smaug left at the end of the last film
[jenniearcheo] So this may merely be that parapet on which Balin and Thorin were standing
[perry] I have little understanding of the design of the mountain- first they’re under it then they are on a parapet.
[butterfly] Isn’t there a balcony above the main doors?
[jenniearcheo] Rather unnecessarily large to have a discussion through
[Demosthenes] yes butterfly that is so
[butterfly] I remember that in the prologue of AUJ
[SmaugInverted] But they built a pretty neat stair in a very short time
[perry] right – when thorin saves balin
[gothmog] yes where we saw smaug with 4 legs haha
[gothmog] then turns out he doesnt
