What was your “best of” for 2013? Well, IGN is conducting a poll on a few different categories to find out the popular opinion, including for best movie, best actress and best actor…
The 2013 box office was ruled by such fanboy-friendly fare as Iron Man 3, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Man of Steel, Star Trek Into Darkness, and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
So where to begin in awarding our annual trophies to the best and brightest that cinema had to offer these past 12 months? For one thing, our categories are as IGN-centric as ever. In addition to the usual Best Movie awards (including Comic Book Adaptation, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror and Action films), we’re also noting excellence in categories such as Best Trailer, Best Poster, Best 3D and Best Blu-ray.
The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug scored nominations in each of the following categories:
* Best Movie
* Best Fantasy Movie
* Best 3D Movie
Cate Blanchett also scores a nomination for her efforts in Blue Jasmine, while The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has a nomination for Best Movie Blu-ray (the last is, perhaps, a bit inexplicable given the troubles over the Extended Edition release).
Oh, and there’s an “other” box that allows you to completely ignore their nominations at any point and exercise your own free will. So head over to IGN and vote away! Thanks to Ringer C Bracegirddle for the heads-up.
