A couple days ago, I reported that LA’s upscale shopping center, The Grove, was suddenly transforming into Erebor. While we didn’t know what the purpose of this was at the time, many of us began to speculate that it was for the world premiere of The Desolation of Smaug, which is set to happen in Los Angeles on December 2, 2013.
Well, I spoke to a few representatives from The Grove to get to the bottom of what this extremely cool makeover was all about. Sadly, this is not for the world premiere, but what is happening at The Grove is still cool all the same. Starting next week, part of The Grove will be hosting a Hobbit exhibit that will run until the film opens on December 13th! They did the same thing last year, featuring all of the 3D lenticular character posters for An Unexpected Journey and several costumes from the film. If this Erebor statues are any indication, this year’s exhibit will be much larger.
So, if you are planning on being in Los Angeles for the world premiere in a little over two weeks, you might want to add The Grove to your travel itinerary. This is sure to be one very cool exhibit!
