The New York Times got some information wrong last week when it said Bilbo’s sword was named ‘Orcrist.’ Check out the image above for the official correction! It is also pretty cool to know that professional baseball players are relatively well read! (Thanks to Justin and many others for the heads up!)

  1. Ah; it had to be R.A. Dickey. He’s a knuckleballer for the Mets, and is one of the most well-spoken, intelligent, and well-read athletes in any sport. It’s likely he caught the mistake himself. 🙂

    I went to junior high and high school with RA Dickey — when we were 13 and 14, we’d reference the Hobbit fairly frequently. It’s very cool to know that he still does!
