One of Weta’s senior model makers on the LOTR Trilogy, Mary Maclachlan will be attending Comic Con in San Diego, and will be at the Sideshow Weta Collectibles booth in the Lord of the Rings Pavillion. Mary also makes some of the LOTR collectibles and will be able to answer questions about the miniatures on LOTR and modelmaking in general. [comic-con.org]

Tokomaru will be helping King Kong conquer New York in Peter Jackson’s latest movie. Steam engines from the privately-owned Tokomaru Steam Museum, 21km southwest of Palmerston North, have been hired by the movie-makers to create an engine in a ship. [More]

Exciting news over at the Narnia-front. Sources within the production have confirmed that Jim Broadbent (the man that won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 2002 instead of Ian McKellen) will play Professor Kirke.
