Greenwood Hobbit writes: Popular BBC2 programme ‘Dead Ringers’ has committed what to some would seem the ultimate insult – a spoof of ROTK’s Grey Havens sequence. But I have to say, I did chuckle rather a lot! The four hobbits and Gandalf looked very convincing, and the cast and crew put a lot of trouble into poking affectionate fun at the multiple endings. The show is repeated on the evening of Saturday 5th June and is well worth watching out for if you’re in the UK.

Ostadan writes: Elvish linguists may be glad to learn that JRRT’s very early “Gnomish Lexicon”, which was published a few years ago in Parma Eldalamberon #11, but has been unavailable for some time, has gone back into print. Gnomish, or Noldorin, is the language which became the basis for the Grey-elven Sindarin tongue seen in Lord of the Rings. [More]
