Ringer Fan Owen dropped us a line to let us know Two Towers has received nine nominations (unless i miscounted) for the 1st Annual Visual Effects Society Awards. The VES Awards honour excellence for visual effects in feature films, television, commercials and music videos, and will be held on February 19, 2003. [More]
Council of Elrond regular Fran recently did a bit of screencapping from a Two Towers bootleg. She discovered something interesting.
It appears that WETA missed a few shots of Arwen at Helm’s Deep, and that if you look closely enough – and freezeframe an awful lot – you can probably spot her in the final charge.
Here’s the proof. We think.



Seems some strange things are going bump in the night. Folks from The Council of Elrond Message Board have an interesting theory into the possibility that Liv Tyler (Arwen) was indeed at Helms Deep, and later digitally removed – and even transformed into Legolas! However … some compelling (albeit fuzzy) pictures show that they may not have been able to remove her entirely … read on! [More]

Links between Middle Earth and the language and mythology of Wales are now the subject of academic study at Cardiff University. PhD student Dimitra Fimi, 24, is researching the Welsh influences on the languages which JRR Tolkien created for his characters to speak. [More]
