Can you fully appreciate the movies if you haven’t read the books?

Some say yes, others a resounding, “NO!” Millions of non-Tolkien readers will dive head first into Middle-earth soon… but can they fully appreciate the experience without reading the books? A must chat for both the die hards and the uninitiated or future Tolkien fans.

Ringer fans unite! A report has come in today that the ‘new’ LOTR might be playing in front of ‘A Knight’s Tale’ this weekend. Yeah, I almost rushed out to the theater too. But call your local cinema first and inquire about the trailer. If they are showing the NEW trailer near you, send me an email at calisuri@theonering.net and give me the details. We can post them online for all to see.

Sick of Cannes? Can’t bear to wait for the movies to come out? Here’s a website that tries to list all toTolkien-related music – The Tolkien Music List

Thanks to Larry for that.

Estel pointed me to where the Herr Der Ringe website has exclusive video footage – some new interviews with PJ, Viggo, Christopher Lee, John Rhys-Davies… and the hobbits. You get to hear more of them chorusing their drinking song -which if you listen carefully, starts out as ‘Hey, ho, to the bottle I go…” and ends off with lines from Pippin’s bath song. Confused? Listen for yourself ![More]

I thought you would be interested in this small tidbit of news from the library world. In the April 1, 2001 edition of Library Journal, (professional literature of the library biz) librarians are advised to stock up on the 1978 book entitled “A Tolkien Treasury.”

The upcoming release of the feature films is mentioned, and LJ speculates that there will be a significant demand for titles about Tolkien and his works. According to LJ this book is a reprint, which suggests that it may have been out of print.
