Today, May 27th is Christopher Lee (Saruman) birthday! Lee was born Christopher Frank Carandini Lee on 27 May 1922 in London, England. That makes him 79 today! Happy Birthday Christopher!

Go to Mr. Lee’s Birthday Party!

Ringer Spy Sean sends in word on a VERY small segment of music used in the trailer.

I just read your piece on the music in the second LOTR trailer and I’m pretty sure that the opening tones (when the New Line cinema logo comes on, together with the first moment of the helicopter shot over the forest) is from the opening notes of a song by Loreena McKennitt called the Mystic’s Dream.

Well, I did some research (thanks to Audiogalaxy) and it turns out Sean is right! Check out the track, and all work from McKennitt actually, I love her work. (NEW LINE: GET HER ON THAT ‘MUSIC INSPIRED BY…’ ALBUM NOW!)

John Rhys-Davies (Gimli) next project is a film called ‘Sabertooth’, a film about a group of scientists who re-create the Sabertooth tiger. John plays Anthony Bricklin, the film also stars David Keith (U571) and Vanessa Angel (Kingpin).

Thanks to Pippin Skywalker for the tip!

In the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly there is a photo of the castle that was used for the LOTR preview at the Cannes festival this year. There are also a few pics of the action figures that will be on sale in September. The figures shown in the magazine are of Gandalf, Frodo, Gimli, and Strider. [More]

Thanks to Logan for the tip!

The weekend edition of Access Hollywood had a nice piece on the official LOTR site. They showed the site, spoke with the head of New Line Interactive, and all around good guy Gordon Paddison. Paddison explained a bit about the updates that will be on the site, eventually there will be something new every 3 weeks. He also said the site has over 1/2 a billion hits so far!

Valentina wrote and said “I’m still shocked after reading that I’ll have to wait until January to see FOTR, but here’s something to cheer up all Italian fans. According to TV guide “TVSette”, MTV will show a “Cannes Movie Special” on Friday, June 1st, 11.30pm (I guess it is the same special that will be shown in the UK this Friday).
