Yesterday was Christmas in the Calisuri household. My official LOTR poster was delivered! Woo! So a few minutes ago, I figured I would go buy another one for collecting sake. Imagine my surprise when I went to the official LOTR shop and the poster is gone! Maybe some poor web designer (like myself) messed up a file and is now losing their job..heh. Stand tuned as we try to gather information on the mystery missing movie poster. [More]

When the news came out that the Lord of the Rings would be filmed here in New Zealand, there were plenty of questions about why Peter Jackson was so set on doing it here. There was less discussion of what Peter Jackson might have to bring to Middle-earth, and I’d like to indulge in some speculation – like we used to have in the early days. Not to downplay the huge impact that New Line will make on this production, but Hollywood filmmaking is more of a known quantity. I’m looking at what’s unique about New Zealand film-making and what it might have to offer the story of the Rings.
I’d like to offer an invitation to anyone who works in the film industry in NZ, or who has an interest in NZ film, to contribute their ideas and insights to this discussion. [More]
It looks like the UK Magazine Dreamwatch, will have a feature on LOTR in its latest issue. We found this teaser paragraph on their website:
“The three films have been shot back-to-back in Jackson’s native New Zealand over 15 months, with principal shooting concluding late December 2000. Jackson has remained passionate about the project throughout. “I am most interested in the themes of friendship and self-sacrifice in the story,” he claims. “This is a tale of survival and courage, about a touching last stand that paved the way for the ascent of mankind.” It’s a dreamy statement for the devoted, of whose number Jackson would seem to be a member.“
