Assassin Films is looking for more Tolkien fans to interview – especially people who have been inspired by Tolkien to work in music, film or writing. They’ll be in LA in September between the 15th and the 19th, and in London between the 20th and the 26th, and they’re available in NZ throughout the production period.
Interested? (It’s painless…) Email them:

The diligent hobbit has reported on the Evening Post’s offering:
“The LOTR posters are now available from Wellington Newspapers and Evening Post offices. They cost $2 plus postage, and the phone number for the EP is (04) 4740444, fax is (04) 4740237. Or people could write to them at PO Box 3740 Wellington, or even go to their
offices at Press House, 40 Boulcott Street, Wellington.”

OK, well so it’s over to you. Phone, fax or post. Add +64 for the NZ country code if you’re trying this from outside. Nice glossy posters of things like Edoras, on quality A2 paper which I’ve been informed is at least 4 times as big as a normal sheet of paper.

This is one for the technophiles – some more on the computers that WETA is using for special effects. It’s over on slashdot.org and links to some pics of LARGE computers with some of the WETA team standing by them.
Thanks to Andrew and Terry for this one

Middle-earth Memorabilia

Got something Tolkien? I’ll wager you do… and for the next Hall of Fire chat we’ll be talking about all of our Tolkien stuff! What versions or text sets of LotR, The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, etc. do you own? Have any old calendars? How about an audio production or two, or the good Professor reading and singing on tape?

Could it be you own a Franklin Mint Sting or Glamdring? Perhaps it’s a Ring from Bedali or a Lord of the Rings chess set. Middle-earth trading cards? Puzzles? Maps? Posters? Software? Hats? Buttons? T-shirts? Is there a Frodo action figure on your computer desk, or a Gandalf on your shelf? Personally I can’t wait to get a few Gollums for the smial…

Or perhaps you have some serious Tolkien collectables, like a mint copy of the first edition red leather Lord of the Rings signed by Tolkien himself. Maybe a Hildebrandt original hangs in your house, or perhaps you have Tolkien’s signature on a cocktail napkin from an English tea. We wondersss… yessss…

Bring your mathoms and your thoughts to our next Hall of Fire talk this weekend!

Saturday Chat: 5:30 p.m. EDT [10:30 GMT]
