Tookish here with our next Tolkien talk topic! Our focus this weekend comes courtesy of Joe, a regular HoF attendee.

Middle-earth’s Baddest Bad Guy

Who is it for you? Exempting of course Morgoth and Sauron, who is your favorite Tolkien villain? This topic will cover the entire History of Middle-earth, from The Silmarillion down to the Fourth Age. Bring your thoughts, your favorite dastardly deeds and evil dialogue, and come share with us this weekend.

Thanks Joe! We’d love to hear from the rest of you too for future Hall of Fire topics. Send ’em in here!

You can find this chat right here on our server. Come to our main chatroom Barliman’s and then type /join #thehalloffire to participate.

While it will not truly surprise anyone who knows Decipher Inc‘s work, I have received confirmation from a Decipher employee that the recently announced Lord of Rings Card Games will indeed use imagery from the films. For an example of what Decipher’s current product lines look like, check out the Young Jedi Card List.

While the Decipher employee mentioned that the Lord of the Rings Card Game would also cover the Silmarillion, I personally doubt this.

In other words, don’t expect the cool artwork Iron Crown‘s Middle Earth Card game was known for.

Here comes the next installment of The Hall of Fire live chat. Thanks to those of you who are regulars at our weekend discussions, and if you haven’t been yet, we’d love to have you jump in at any time. For this Saturday, we’re going to talk about Boromir

Boromir: Tragic Hero of Gondor

Come share your thoughts with us!

Bruce Hopkins

News comes from NZ regarding Kiwi actor Bruce Hopkins. Apparently Hopkins has been cast, however we have no idea as who. Any ideas?

Yep! (says Tehanu) Gamling the old, we’ve heard. He’s the old codger that lives in the Deeping Coomb, and takes part in the defence of the Hornburg.

“Gamling the Old looked down from the Hornburg, hearing the great voice of the dwarf above all the tumult. “The Orcs are in the Deep!’ he cried. ‘Helm! Helm! Forth Helmingas!’ he shouted as he leaped down the stair from the Rock with many men of Westfold at his back.”

Hopkins has been making films since 1991 with a debut in ‘Linda’s Body’, he also ran the ‘Xena, Herc, Cleopatra’ gauntlet as well, and yes, I’m waiting to see what role he had in Shortland Street…

More info as it makes its way available.
