I just read the latest issue of Empire and found FotR still on place on of the list of the most anticipated future films….

The article also gave some new information:

“Even better news is that Fellowship now has a UK release date – it’s all set to make its bow here on December 14, 2001, which apparently means that in an unusual coup, British cinema audiences get to see it a full five days before American moviegoers!”

“More teaser trailers are set to make their mark online [at www.lordoftherings.net] between now and Christmas”

And here are some that appear to be from the production itself, outlining the constructions in the Dry Creek quarry that make up Helm’s Deep.

Here comes the latest from the Hall of Fire topic think tank:

Music and Middle-earth

From its creation down to the last chapter of Middle-earth’s history, music is a powerful and significant presence in the writing of J.R.R. Tolkien. Music and song is a common theme not only to the passage of time in Arda, but also to all the peoples of Middle-earth. We find singing orcs, hobbits, dwarves, goblins, ents, elves, humans, gods, and demi-gods. I’ll wager Sauron himself hummed a dark ditty as he crafted the One Ring at Mount Doom.

What does Tolkien achieve and evoke with all of this music and song? How is music used as metaphore, image, emotion, magic, or even substance? What resonnates with you and the music of Middle-earth?

Ringer fan GordoSan sent us this tip:

I’m not sure if you guys have posted this yet. I just recently got my Official Dreamcast Magazine in the mail and I found an insert for a new movie magazine. Its called Total MOVIE and like the ODCM, every bi-monthly issue comes with a demo disc. Only here its a DVD and not a 1Gig game CD. The discs contain trailers, behind-the-scenes footage, interviews, and such. Well the premier issue shown, states that the Lord of the Rings trailer is indeed on it. I could not find a link to the new mag from Imagine’s web site, so I guess you must subscribe through another mag or buy it at the newsstand.

Geez, where can I get one!! I will try to get more info as this story breaks.

Thanks GordoSan!
