Jan writes: For those of you who live in Los Angeles, or in one of the local farthings thereof: Tolkien Forever, the Los Angeles smial of The Tolkien Society, will hold its fourth annual Reading Day on Saturday, March 28, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Mid-Valley Regional Branch Library, 16244 Nordhoff St., North Hills, Ca. Although Reading Day offically falls on March 25, the anniversary of the destruction of the Ring, the local smial will celebrate belatedly in order to accomodate the most participants.

As in previous years, Reading Day LA will feature lively readings from Tolkien’s works, and group activities for school-age children, all held within our in-library “Hall of Fire”, decorated with Middle-Earth stylings. The musical hobbits, wizards, and Elves of the smial are also planning a presentation of Tolkien-inspired music.

If you live in the L.A. area, please join us in celebrating our continuing joy in the words and works of the Professor! Costumes are heartily welcomed!
