Margaret writes: I was listening to the NPR show Studio 360 this morning, and the subject of the show, explored several ways, was parody. One of the stories was about a parody of DVD commentaries, with partisan pundits finding movie symbolism agreeing with their philosophy in contemporary film. This has been done for FOTR. The writers of this parody are portraying Howard Zinn and Noam Chomsky. They talk about the “pipe weed-based economy” of Hobbiton, “economic sactions faced by Mordor,” and about the Orcs being “desperate to compete with the economic powerhouses of Rohan and Gondor.” [More]
