A high school is offering a class on hobbits, dwarves and elves. Madison High School students have traded Tolstoy for J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic “The Lord of the Rings” as part of an elective English class. Their teacher, Lyle Wakefield, says he’s abandoned what can be an ordinarily stuffy approach to the language and delved into the adventure trilogy popularized by three recent films. [More]
