“NZ TV showed Richard Taylor arriving back in Wellington today, he had a bag full of mini-Oscars (about half the size of the real statues) for everyone at WETA. He said it was great to be back and that Hollywood was a new experience for him. The real statues are destined for a cabinet in the one of the workshops at WETA. His partner Tania Rodgers did not attend the Oscars because she was expecting a child in a fortnight.” Thanks to Will for that.

Thanks to Jim for this: “Hi I’ve recorded the French & Saunders FOTR Spoof Movie clip. It’s 5mins long
and 80MB download ! Its Mpeg2 compressed and good quality .If you have Broadband then it’s ‘make yourself a cup of tea and some Lembas! [More]

We’ve got some ecstatic emails from people who’ve gone to see FOTR today and saw the TTT footage at the end; some disappointed mail from those who went and found it wasn’t there. Some cinemas are waiting on God and Fedex to send them the final reel with the new footage, some tacked it onto whatever they were showing a few days ago. SO: It pays to call ahead if you’re hoping to see the TTT footage. We’re not about to list everywhere in the world that does and doesn’t have it.

Well, seeing as we are in a cartoon-ish mood today this one from the Dork Tower (where some people are obviously still waiting for the votes from the cast en crew from ‘Mission to Mars’ to arrive) is very funny as well, check it out! [More]

Several people have emailed me in the past few hours telling me that the symphony Howard Shore composed especially for the Hollywood Bowl we reported on earlier today will be performed on august 10th and, much to my surprise, we even have a lineparty for it! [More]

Thanks to Kailin for the info!

Michael and Mary from Louisiana send in a warning for those of you heading to the theaters today. Call your local theater ahead of time to make sure the ‘new’ reel of Lord of the Rings has arrived. From Mike & Mary’s experience, the new print will not be in their theater until later in the evening, so the matinee showings will NOT have the Two Towers footage. Moral of the story: Call before you go!
