Good news! You CAN learn Elvish from a book.
I was wrong when I said that there were no books on the Elvish language available. In fact you can get “The Languages of Middle Earth” and “an Introduction to Elvish” from Amazon.com. Both are apparently classic resources for learning Tolkien’s languages. Thanks to Adam, Mole and Bill for the news.
