Bakshi’s Aragorn. Anton Chigurh. Coincidence? I think not.

Doug Adams, author of the upcoming book, “The Music of the Lord of the Rings Films”, has posted an update on the book’s progress: the book cover is still a work in progress, he’s hoping to include some of Shore’s pencil sketches, and numerous examples of notated music passages will be provided from throughout the score. Perhaps the most unexpected news was this:
The book project has now attracted the attention of a number of corporate entities. There is a potential to tie a couple of ideas together and perhaps make a bigger deal out of this release than was originally anticipated.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, there is still some discussion about whether “The Hobbit” should be one long movie (in two parts) or two self-contained movies, though there are no direct quotes on the subject. However, comments regarding the collaboration between Del Toro and Jackson seem very positive:
“We’ve had a perfectly beautiful relationship so far where we understand each other’s role - I am the director and he is the producer,” he says. “He’s been incredibly supportive. I think that he understands that with a director comes a point of view. As long as those basics are understood, I think things are going to continue to be perfect.”

“I have been under the spell of the faeries for most of my life. The pictures and stories that move me most are those that expose the thinness of the veil that separates us from the Otherworld, and if my own drawings do not feel animated by some unquiet presence I soon lose interest in them. For me, faeries are the creative spark in nature, the tricksters who beguile and confuse us and then point out the path that leads to further adventure, and who provoke the desire to explore and connect with processes we don’t understand.” - Alan Lee
International best-selling illustrator and Oscar winning Conceptual Designer Alan Lee is the Guest of Honor at FaerieCon International, October 10-12 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

Oli Welsh writes: With Lord of the Rings Online, Turbine may not have delivered the World of Warcraft rival some were expecting - but it did deliver a superior MMORPG, and then serve it with so much new content that we thought it was worth 9/10 not once but twice. Now it’s winding up to the release of LOTRO’s first expansion, and after getting the lowdown on Mines of Moria, we spoke to executive producer Jeffrey Steefel about where he sees the game’s present, and future.
