MEMORIES<\/strong><\/h4>\n

I sit before the keyboard
\nand ponder long-gone youth,
\nWhen clouds were shaped like Oliphaunts
\nor even Wargs forsooth.
\nWith innocence we\u2019d whirl \u2018til tipsy
\nand dance our Springle-ring,
\nOr jostle and joust atop Erebor
\nto be the Mountain\u2019s King.<\/p>\n

Upon our Egladil we\u2019d rest
\nand heed the songbird\u2019s trill:
\nHere Angle\u2019s End waved meadow-grass
\nand pale-green Niphredil.
\nThen: \u201cTag! You\u2019re it!\u201d was a delight,
\nbut moreso Hide-n-Seek:
\nWe\u2019d duck behind a Mallorn Tree
\nor crouch in Cavern Deep.<\/p>\n

As I sit before the keyboard
\nI relive my Bagshot Row:
\nWe\u2019d climb up Old Man Willow
\nand watch the Big Folk down below.
\nFrom the branches of our Ent-house
\nwe held Councils of the Wise,
\nWhile the Master of the Hall held forth
\nGreat Music we\u2019d devise.<\/p>\n

Alone we\u2019d play \u2018til dusk each day,
\nour Gammers had no Dragon-fear:
\nThen Varda\u2019s Lights would shimmer bright
\nwhile E\u00e4rendil above shone clear.
\nAt twilight blossomed fireflies,
\nthey\u2019d flitter to-and-fro;
\nBewitched with Crystal Phial-full
\nwe\u2019d watch the Elven-glow.<\/p>\n

We thought those Free Fair days would last,
\nforesaw no Gift of Men.
\nYet fate on life\u2019s Great Journey
\ntakes trails we cannot ken:
\nAnd our Wandering Days of growth
\nbring new friends of great worth,
\nAs those Hidden Paths have brought us
\nFellowship in Middle-earth.<\/p>\n
