\"CourtofThingolMelian-progress-1b-web\"<\/a> Artist Donato Giancola<\/a> has recently begun work on a new, and very large, Tolkien-inspired painting. It depicts the moment in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Silmarillion when Beren declares his love for Thingol and Melian’s dauighter and vows to undertake the quest of the Silmarils. <\/p>\n

I have begun a massive canvas work this past month, depicting Beren proclaiming his love for Luthien in the Court of the elf king Thingol and the Maia Melian in the Caves of Menegroth. <\/p>\n

Tapping into the artists Edwin Austin Abbey and Jacques Louis David for inspiration and understanding on this one.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
