Number 1. Dwalin: “Bilbo is right, you can not see what you’ve become.”<\/b><\/p>\n
Garfeimao: Key line for me. Holy guacamole. Number 2. Bard speaks through a hole in the rock to Thorin: “You brought upon them only ruin and death”.<\/b><\/p>\n Garfeimao: I loved what appears to be a heart to heart with Bard telling Thorin he lead them to death and ruin and Thorin looking crushed.<\/p>\n Number 3. Saruman: “Leave Sauron to me”.<\/b> Demosthenes: Galadriel and Gandalf lie injured on the ground next to Elrond as Saruman walks off. Lee is amazing. Does this preface a showdown that is also the beginning of the fall of Saruman? Number 4. Thranduil to Gandalf: “You started this, you will forgive me if I finish it”.<\/b><\/p>\n Garfeimao: This likely refers not to Dol Guldur or the Orcs, but with cleaning out the Lonely Mountain. Number 5. Bilbo: “When faced with Death, what can anyone do?”<\/b><\/p>\n deej: Honestly, this made me so sad. And, as I’m guessing that line is just before the battle, it makes it all the more tragic.<\/p>\n Number 6. Absences. No Dain, no Smaug. No Beorn, no Radagast.<\/b><\/p>\n Demosthenes: Nothing of any of those characters. I’m especially interested in Radagast’s absence from Dol Guldur. What does this mean? It will add even more fuel to the Radagast dies theory.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Number 7. Kili yells at Thorin: “I will not hide while others fight our battles for us”.<\/b><\/p>\n Garfeimao: Kili is arguing with Thorin, guess Thorin just wants to hide in the mountain as the Orcs attack. Number 8. Gandalf: “You have but one question to answer: how will this day end?”<\/b><\/p>\n Number 9. Showdown. The Nine Ringwraiths surround Gandalf and Galadriel in Dol Guldur.<\/b><\/p>\n Demosthenes: A lot of folks are fascinated by this confrontation. You also see a flash of Saruman in the background, then Elrond approaches, drawing his sword. The wraiths — at this point — do not appear actually wraithlike — a phenomenon of the presence of the Three? There are only eight figures, is the ninth nearest camera and just out of shot? Edited to add: We now see the ninth figure in the bottom foreground.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Number 10. Thranduil strikes out at Tauriel.<\/b><\/p>\n Demosthenes: Lots of personal confrontation here between folks who are either supposed to be allies or who are close friends and kin. If the previous films have established relationships, this one is breaking them apart. Number 11. \nDemosthenes: This whole movie is going to have a totally different tenor. Character-driven drama from go to woah.
\ndeej: We’re seeing a bigger divide within the Company, and Thorin’s line in the teaser trailer (“Will you follow me, one last time?”) has even more significance.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n

\nAragorntheElfstone: “Leave Sauron to ME.” *fist pump*. Lee has ONE shot in the whole thing, and he steals it. \ud83d\ude00
\nGarfeimao: When Saruman says “leave Sauron to me, Galadriel is on the ground hugging Elrond’s leg.
\nCalisuri: wow — and the flash of Sauron shows his figure.
\ndeej: I’m wondering if we’ll see the beginning of Saruman’s allegiance with Sauron?<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
\nCalisuri: LOVE That line.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
\nDemosthenes: Kili striking out on his own. Growing up, if you like. His loyalty tested to beyond breaking point. He’s had enough of merely following Thorin.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
\ndeej: WOW – that shot of Galadriel and Gandalf surrounded by the Nazgul.
\nGarfeimao: Those certainly do look like Nazgul each with different helms.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
\ndeej: I’m kind of hoping that we see Tauriel and Thranduil fight. That shot made it look like we might see that.
\nGarfeimao: Thranduil definitely takes a swing at her, I bet she’s standing in front of a dwarf.
\nCalisuri: Thranduil strikes out at Tauriel, destroying the bow and arrow she raises to block his attack. Thranduil’s distorted face is similar to the face he displayed to Thorin in Mirkwood. But does he kill (behead) her? It would be an amazing turn of events for this to happen. I don\u2019t think PJ has the cojones.<\/p>\n
