One by one, he will destroy the line of Durin. \u00a0But by my life, he shall not take my son!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Thorin (voiceover): My father lead a charge toward the Dimril gate, but he never returned. \u00a0Thrain is gone, they told me. \u00a0He is one of the fallen. \u00a0But at the end of that battle I searched amongst the slain, to the last body. \u00a0My father was not among the dead.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gandalf (back at the Prancing Pony) Thorin, it&#8217;s been a long time since anything but rumor was heard of Thrain.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Thorin: He still lives, I am sure of it!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gandalf: The ring your grandfather wore. one of seven given to the Dwarf Lords many years ago&#8230;what became of it?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Thorin: He gave it to my father before they went into battle.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gandalf: So Thrain was wearing it when he went missing&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>16:00 &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>After Beorn shifts from bear to man, the scene cuts him entering the house and Bilbo seeing him. \u00a0It&#8217;s morning, and we see a quick shot of wood being chopped. \u00a0Bilbo wakes up, sees the bees, then joins the dwarves standing near the front door. \u00a0They are arguing about how to get away from Beorn without being seen.<\/p>\n<p>Nori: I say we should leg it and slip out the back way!<\/p>\n<p>Dwalin: I&#8217;m not running from anyone, beast or no.<\/p>\n<p>Gandalf tells them there is no point in arguing, as they will be unable to make it to Mirkwood without Beorn&#8217;s help. \u00a0Gandalf decides to go outside and speak with Beorn. \u00a0He brings Bilbo with him.<\/p>\n<p>Gandalf: This will require some delicate handling; we must tread carefully. \u00a0The last person to have startled him was torn to shreds.<\/p>\n<p>Gandalf tells the dwarves to wait inside until he gives the signal that it&#8217;s safe to come out.<\/p>\n<p>Bofur, looking out a high window, asks &#8220;What&#8217;s the signal&#8221;, but Gandalf and Bilbo have already gone.<\/p>\n<p>Gandalf, clearly nervous, announces himself to Beorn, who is chopping wood.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-93188 no-lazyload \" src=\"http:\/\/www-images.theonering.org\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0443-1024x459.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"649\" height=\"291\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0443-1024x459.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0443-300x134.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0443-600x269.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0443.jpg 1433w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 649px) 100vw, 649px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Good morning!&#8230;&#8230;.&#8217;Good morning!&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Beorn stops and turns slowly to Gandalf. \u00a0&#8220;Who are you?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Gandalf: I&#8217;m Gandalf. \u00a0Gandalf the Grey.<\/p>\n<p>Beorn: \u00a0Never heard of him.<\/p>\n<p>Gandalf: I&#8217;m a wizard! \u00a0Perhaps you&#8217;ve heard of my colleague, Radagast the Brown. \u00a0He resides in the southern borders of Mirkwood.<\/p>\n<p>Beorn: What do you want?<\/p>\n<p>Gandalf: Well, simply to thank you for your hospitality. \u00a0You may have noticed that we took refuge in your lodgins last night.<\/p>\n<p>Bilbo, who had been hiding behind Gandalf, pokes his head around for a better look. \u00a0Beorn spots him and frowns.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-93187 no-lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/www-images.theonering.org\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0447-1024x467.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0447\" width=\"693\" height=\"316\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0447-1024x467.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0447-300x137.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0447-600x274.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0447.jpg 1410w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 693px) 100vw, 693px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Beorn: Who is this little fellow?<\/p>\n<p>Gandalf: Well, this would be Mr. Baggins, of the Shire.<\/p>\n<p>Beorn: He&#8217;s not a dwarf, is he?<\/p>\n<p>Gandalf explains that Bilbo is a Hobbit, and from a good family. \u00a0Beorn asks them why there here, and Gandalf tries to explain the quest, while waving his arms animatedly.<\/p>\n<p>Bofur, still watching from the window, takes the waving as Gandalf&#8217;s sign that they should come out. \u00a0Dwalin and Balin come out first, and introduce themselves. \u00a0Beorn is clearly not pleased to see them. \u00a0Gandalf confesses that there are more dwarves, and slowly the rest come out. \u00a0Thorin comes out last, and Beorn appears to recognize him. \u00a0Scene then cuts to the dwarves eating breakfast.<\/p>\n<p>Note: \u00a0While Beorn is describing the Mirkwood elves (&#8220;Less wise, more dangerous&#8221;), the point of view shots are in a different order than the theatrical edition, although the dialogue is the same<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p><strong>23:23 &#8211;\u00a0In the woods near Beorn&#8217;s house. \u00a0We see the dwarves with the ponies that Beorn has lent them, preparing to leave.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Beorn: You will leave my ponies before you enter the forest.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gandalf: You have my word.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-93186 no-lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/www-images.theonering.org\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0448-1024x466.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0448\" width=\"692\" height=\"315\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0448-1024x466.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0448-300x136.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0448-600x273.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0448.jpg 1432w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 692px) 100vw, 692px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>A bird squawks. \u00a0Gandalf remarks that they are being watched.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Beorn: Yes. The Orcs will not give up. \u00a0They will hunt the dwarves until they see them destroyed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gandalf: Why now? \u00a0What has made the Defiler crawl from his hole?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Beorn: \u00a0There is an alliance between the Orcs of Moria and the sorcerer of Dol Guldur.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gandalf: Are you sure of this?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Beorn: Packs have been seen gathering there. \u00a0Each day more and more come.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gandalf: \u00a0What do you know of this sorcerer. \u00a0The one they call the Necromancer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Beorn: \u00a0I know he is not what he seems. \u00a0Fell things are drawn to his power. \u00a0Azog pays homage to him.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Thorin interrupts them and tells Gandalf they must leave. \u00a0Gandalf turns to leave.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Beorn: \u00a0There is more. \u00a0Not long past word had spread that the dead had been seen walking near the high fells of Rhudaur.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gandalf: \u00a0The dead?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Beorn: \u00a0Is it true? \u00a0Are there tombs in those mountains?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-93191 no-lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/www-images.theonering.org\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0451-1024x484.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0451\" width=\"711\" height=\"336\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0451-1024x484.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0451-300x141.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0451-600x283.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0451.jpg 1434w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 711px) 100vw, 711px\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Voiceover from Galadriel, \u00a0as we watch a group of men carrying what appears to be a body wrapped in linens and chains: \u00a0When Angmar fell, the men of the north took his body and all that he possessed, and sealed it in the high fells of Rhudaur. \u00a0Deep within the rock, they buried him in a tomb so dark, it would never come to light.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gandalf: Yes, there are tombs there.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Beorn: I remember a time when a great evil ruled these lands. \u00a0One powerful enough to raise the dead. \u00a0If that enemy has returned to Middle-earth, I would have you tell me.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gandalf: \u00a0Saruman the White says it&#8217;s not possible. \u00a0The enemy was destroyed and will never return.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Beorn: \u00a0And what does Gandalf the Grey say?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gandalf is silent. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Beorn: \u00a0Go now while you still have the light. \u00a0Your hunters are not far behind.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>We then see the Company arrive at the edge of Mirkwood, and Gandalf tells them he must leave.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>29:18 &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>As Gandalf prepares to leave, he warns the others: This is not the Greenwood of old. \u00a0There is a stream in the woods that carries a dark enchantment. \u00a0Do not touch the water. \u00a0Cross only by the stone bridge. \u00a0The very air of the forest is heavy with illusion.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-93192 no-lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/www-images.theonering.org\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0452-1024x473.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0452\" width=\"660\" height=\"305\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0452-1024x473.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0452-300x138.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0452-600x277.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0452.jpg 1434w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>31:00 &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>After entering the forest, the dwarves are just starting to feel the effects of the Mirkwood air. \u00a0They find the remains of the bridge that Gandalf mentioned, but it is impassable. \u00a0Bofur suggests that they swim across, but Thorin reminds him of Gandalfs\u00a0warning. \u00a0They try to find another way across; We see the Master in his study. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Master: \u00a0You mark my words, that troublemaking bargeman is behind this! \u00a0Who dragged up that old nonsense?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Alfrid: \u00a0People, sire. \u00a0They&#8217;re gathering in the streets. \u00a0They&#8217;re saying that a king will return to the Lonely Mountain, and that the rivers will once more run with gold.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Master: \u00a0Rivers of gold? \u00a0Poppy(burps)cock.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Alfrid: \u00a0As you say, sire. \u00a0But people will believe what they want to believe. \u00a0It&#8217;s been a long time since they&#8217;ve seen any riches. \u00a0The old tales offer them hope.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The scene shifts back to the armory and the dwarves grabbing as many weapons as they can carry.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>1:42:25 &#8211; After Thorin promises the citizens of Laketown that if they help them, they will be rewarded with riches. \u00a0The celebration is interrupted by Alfrid.<\/p>\n<p>Alfrid: \u00a0Why should we take you at your word, eh?
