\"Desolation What was your “best of” for 2013? Well, IGN is conducting a poll on a few different categories to find out the popular opinion, including for best movie, best actress and best actor…<\/p>\n

\nThe 2013 box office was ruled by such fanboy-friendly fare as Iron Man 3, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Man of Steel, Star Trek Into Darkness, and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. <\/p>\n

So where to begin in awarding our annual trophies to the best and brightest that cinema had to offer these past 12 months? For one thing, our categories are as IGN-centric as ever. In addition to the usual Best Movie awards (including Comic Book Adaptation, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror and Action films), we’re also noting excellence in categories such as Best Trailer, Best Poster, Best 3D and Best Blu-ray.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug scored nominations in each of the following categories:<\/p>\n

* Best Movie
\n* Best Fantasy Movie
\n* Best 3D Movie<\/p>\n

Cate Blanchett also scores a nomination for her efforts in Blue Jasmine, while The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has a nomination for Best Movie Blu-ray (the last is, perhaps, a bit inexplicable given the troubles over the Extended Edition release).<\/p>\n
