{"id":83855,"date":"2013-12-04T10:27:42","date_gmt":"2013-12-04T15:27:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/?p=83855"},"modified":"2013-12-04T10:27:42","modified_gmt":"2013-12-04T15:27:42","slug":"a-lost-set-location-from-the-fellowship-of-the-ring-uncovered","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/2013\/12\/04\/83855-a-lost-set-location-from-the-fellowship-of-the-ring-uncovered\/","title":{"rendered":"A lost set location from The Fellowship of the Ring uncovered?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"intro\">Just last week on New Zealand&#8217;s South Island a Manapouri local may have stumbled upon a location that Peter Jackson used in filming The Fellowship of the Rings to film a famous scene in the Midgewater Marshes.<\/p>\n<p>Several kilometres up the road to <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.google.com.au\/maps?oe=utf-8&#038;rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&#038;client=firefox-a&#038;gfe_rd=cr&#038;q=takaro+road+new+zealand&#038;um=1&#038;ie=UTF-8&#038;hq=&#038;hnear=0xa9d46cdad86b35b1:0xfa1f342b155a1839,Takaro+Rd,+Te+Anau+9672,+New+Zealand&#038;gl=au&#038;sa=X&#038;ei=LEafUs2-Icj_iAeWxYCwDQ&#038;ved=0CCsQ8gEwAA\">Takaro Lodge<\/a>, Aaron Nicholson (who <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/2012\/12\/01\/66391-new-zealand-peak-could-be-dubbed-mount-tolkien\/\" target=\"_blank\">last year<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.odt.co.nz\/regions\/west-coast\/253475\/rings-association-taken-peak\" target=\"_blank\">unsuccessfully<\/a> attempted to have a Fiordland mountain renamed in honour of J.R.R. Tolkien) stumbled across the site while guiding the visiting Secretary of State for Wisconsin around the area.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Mr Nicholson said on inspection it looked as though no one had been there for a few years.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In the Fellowship of the Rings it is what I call Hobbit Second Breakfast at the Midgewater Marshes. Peter Jackson had to film in a snow storm when he did Lord of the Rings, but we had a perfect day.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As detailed in Ian Brodie&#8217;s <i>Lord of the Rings Location Guidebook<\/i>, the Takaro Road area was also used to film scenes for Fangorn Forest.
