British actor Dominic Monaghan is the latest celebrity to join Supanova\u2019s ensemble cast attending November\u2019s expos in Brisbane and Adelaide. Best known to audiences as the Hobbit Meriadoc \u2018Merry\u2019 Brandybuck in Peter Jackson\u2019s adaptations of The Lord of the Rings, Monahagn also starred in J.J. Abrams\u2019 Lost as rock star Charlie Pace. He also featured alongside Hugh Jackman in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and in sci-fi series FlashForward.<\/p>\n

A passionate outdoorsman and environmentalist, he currently presents the reality series Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan, in which he travels to exotic locations and interacts with the local wildlife. When filming in Laos in 2012, a new species of spider, Ctenus monaghani, was discovered and named after him. The series was nominated for Best Reality Series at the Third Annual Critics\u2019 Choice Television Awards. He has devoted much time and energy to conservation efforts, purchasing a plot of forest in India in 2003 in order to protect it. Monaghan plans to film new material for his series whilst in Australia for Supanova.<\/p>\n
