Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch<\/b>\u00a0(born 19 July 1976) is an English actor. His most acclaimed roles include\u00a0Stephen Hawking<\/a>\u00a0in the BBC drama\u00a0Hawking<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2004);\u00a0William Pitt<\/a>\u00a0in the historical filmAmazing Grace<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2006); protagonist Stephen Ezard in the miniseries thriller\u00a0The Last Enemy<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2008); Paul Marshall in\u00a0Atonement<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2007); Bernard in\u00a0Small Island<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2009); and\u00a0Sherlock Holmes<\/a>\u00a0in the modern BBC adaptation series\u00a0Sherlock<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2010\u201312).<\/p>\n
