‘The horn of Boromir!’ he cried. ‘He is in need!’ He sprang down the steps and away, leaping down the path. ‘Alas! An ill fate is on me this day, and all that I do goes amiss.’<\/i><\/p>\n

The Two Towers: Book Three, Chapter I: The Departure of Boromir<\/b><\/p>\n

Aragorn finally discovers Boromir in the woods near Parth Galen. He is too late to help though, the man of Gondor is mortally wounded. Pierced by many orc arrows, Boromir repents his misdeeds and tells Aragorn that orcs took the Hobbits even as his lifeblood ebbs from his body.<\/p>\n

Grief-stricken, Aragorn tries to piece together what occurred and whether Boromir meant Frodo and Sam. <\/p>\n

Only much later, after Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli have given Boromir’s body to the Anduin, do they discover the truth: Frodo and Sam have gone east to Mordor. Merry and Pippin must have been taken by the orc raiders. <\/p>\n

The trio are faced with a the worst of decisions: do they follow the Ringbearer and Sam to Mordor, or track down Pippin and Merry on the way to Orthanc?<\/p>\n
