\u201cThere is really a sense of Peter [Jackson] wanting people around him who totally understand the material and the work ethic,\u201d he tells The Hollywood Reporter.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Andy Serkis<\/strong>, who played the iconic Gollum in Peter Jackson<\/strong>\u2019sThe Lord of the\u00a0Rings<\/em>, is taking on a new role in\u00a0The Hobbit 1<\/em> and\u00a02<\/em>. In addition to\u00a0reprising his role as the tragic creature, Serkis also has been tapped by\u00a0Jackson to serve as second unit director on the two films, which are now in\u00a0production in New Zealand.<\/p>\n
